Colon Cancer Test Comparisons

Testing for colorectal cancer includes tests for screening, diagnosis, staging for treatment, and on-going monitoring. Typically, screening and diagnosis tests are pre-surgery and treatment; staging and monitoring tests are post-surgery.

There are several tests performed within each category. To help you better understand the options, we have prepared a chart to compare the different types of tests used and how sensitive and specific they are.

You will note that TDT's tests are post-surgery tests for staging (determining the extent of the disease) and on-going monitoring for recurrence of the disease.
